As a teacher and a writer, I am in my glory when I work with young people on sentence CREATIVITY development. Usually sentences choke on consistent beginnings, brevity and the overuse of the same words.
This entry gives you 12 sentence starters and 12 sentence completers that can be used in a fun way to create sentences. I have added additional ideas for these samples and others you will create to be used as a senetnce creation game.
This activity has proven to be VERY effective as well as fun. Hopefully it makes sentence creation more challenging and less frustrating for your students who cringe when time to write comes along.
In my classes the sentences students developed from some of these samples have proven to be effective sparks for paragraphs and even stories afterwards.

34 years...12 in Physical education and 22 in elementary classrooms, 20 of those years were in multi-age classrooms by choice. Voluntarily transferred several times in my career to become involved in different MA classes. Writing for education and creatively otherwise for 35 years. Have received several awards for technological integration into the curriculum and for leadership. I am now retired and partner in an educational consulting firm.
