This lesson discusses the effects of acid rain, and the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl. I activate the lesson using the video game "Call of Duty 4". The kids really get a kick out of this lesson. They still talk about Chernobyl 4 months later.

Great resource! I didn't understand how the video game tied in but my kids loved seeing that particular slide :) The graphic organizer is very helpful and creative.

One of the game's levels takes place in the abandoned city of Chernobyl. They even comment on how the city used to have 50,000 people and is now a "ghost town". I usually ask the students to jot down what they notice about the environment in the level. Also, I ask them to describe the buildings and guess what they think happened there. Hope this helps.
