This is a news article about dinosaur DNA. I ask the students to read the short article and then respond to several questions regarding scientific notation. I also ask them to use a $1.50 summary, a CRISS Strategy that allows them 10 cents a word, up to a dollar fifty to summarize the article. This is good for reiforcing main idea.

I am in my sixth year of teaching. My certification is in Math grades 7-12. I began teaching in an IB/Magnet High School in Rochester, NY where I taught Precalculus, Computer Programming, and Math A. After 2 successful years, my family moved to Florida where we could enjoy the sunshine year round. For the past 4 years, I have been teaching in a suburban High School in Florida. In addition to teaching Geometry, Algebra, and AP Calculus AB, I co-chair the math department. I am currently working on my National Board Certification.
