I was trying to leave a positive feedback and I just realized I entered my marks on the wrong side! I am so sorry! Is their a way for me to go back and edit those scores? If there is please let me know so I can correct it. I absolutely LOVE the Center Guide and I am kicking myself for not doing that correctly.

Hi there. A 4 square vocab sheet is just a page folded into 4 squares. In one square the kiddos write the vocab word. In the second, they draw a picture to match. In the third, they write the definition (from the dictionary or in their own words)and the forth they use the word in a sentence. Great question! Thanks

Hi, when do the students meet with the teacher if they are following their stations menu? I am not sure I will have enough time for my students to visit four stations a day any suggestions? Thanks

Hi there and thank you for your question. I put my guided reading groups into colors, so after all kiddos have made their way to their centers and are quietly working, I say "I need to see red group". They clean up and come to the rainbow table. They bring their station folders and I mark a dot on the station menu where they were and I do not require that one to be completed on Friday since they were working with me. I too have some days where I do not get to all 4 centers. If that happens, I may use a station for morning work. For example, I may say "Good morning friends! Please get out your center maps and go to Monday number 4." This would make up for Monday's center. Hope that helps! Coconut Cutie

You mention I Can Statements in your description. Are they for Kdg, 1st, and 2nd? Are they based on Common Core State Standards? Thanks.

It is simply things for the kiddos to do when they are finished. There is a must do item and them suggested items for them to complete. The suggested ideas are based on my 1st grade classroom but are generic enough that I believe they could be modified for any classroom. Ex. Pocket chart center

MUST DO:
Complete the poem or shared reading of the week by putting it back together

CAN DO: Write the poem
Create a pattern
Sequence cards
Hope that helps. Happy Teaching!

Welcome friends! I am a 1st grade teacher with a Master' degree in teaching. I began my journey of teaching in 2006. My first island (ok, classroom) was Kindergarten, which I taught for 3 years and then...I graduated to 1st grade and have been there ever since. LOVE It!!!
