"Daily Data" is the collection of data through a question of the week followed by related daily activities that touch on many math concepts. In this March pack students will create data on two overlapping hoops (Venn diagram) and each day they will complete a task related to the data. Tasks include creating a tally chart, writing observations, formulating equations, and transferring data from the original display to a bar graph or pie chart.

I use these activities as quick and easy to prepare morning work. I teach first grader, but it could be used in 2nd or even kindergarten with lots of modeling.

I would love for you to take a look at my blog, where I have posted more descriptions and pictures of the Daily Data activities.

Hi Melissa. I taught kindergarten for 11 years and now I'm teaching first grade! Plus this school year marks the first year using the common core at my school. My question to you is does your daily data incorporate the common core standards? And if I try out your first few months and buy all of them from you, do you give out discounts. Thanks for your time. Jami

This is also my first year using common core math standards. I have not aligned these activities with common core, so it is not noted on the product which standards are met. But many of our 1st grade standards are met through these activities. I have not made the daily data packs for Oct, Nov, Dec, or Jan yet but after I do I plan on putting them all together as a big set and setting a lower proce for all of them. But, I'm going slow and just doing one per month so that won't happen for a while. Email me at mjtmcmurray@gmail.com and I'll send you part of one of the packs to see if you want to use them or not. Thanks Jami!

This is my 9th year teaching; my 8th in first grade. I love teaching children at this age. They are excited to learn and love school! In first grade children make progress so quickly and you can really see them learning new things. I love to see the light come on in their eyes when they are catching on to something new- so rewarding!
