This booklet is designed to introduce basic ballet exercises to all ages. Dance is a great way to improve balance, strength, flexibility and overall physical fitness.
This booklet can be used in three ways:
Independent physical fitness activity
Small group independent activity
Small group physical fitness activity guided
by teacher
Each chapter introduces a different aspect of a beginner class, as well as how the class progresses through the semester. Each chapter includes visual and written descriptions of each position and movement to allow your dancer to compare and check for proper placement and alignment.
Activities in this booklet need no special supplies and can be performed on any surface (carpet, tile, or wood). It is recommended to have an open space. I often have dancers stand with arms out, turn, and point their foot out to the front, side and back to make sure they will not hit anything.
