Danny is the best at keeping secrets. But when his friend, Rick, tells him a scary secret, Danny feels uneasy about keeping quiet. Is it ever okay to break a promise to a friend? Tips & interactive play therapies at end of book.

Playdate Kids Publishing specializes in early childhood, social and behavioral development. A child’s psyche is delicate, so guiding them through a communal or emotional situation must be handled with special care.

Our goal is for kids to feel comfortable with their own emotions and safe in their current environments. By offering entertaining adventures for the reader, we hope to fully engage kids in difficult social arenas with both their peers and with adults. Afterward, children can more fully adjust and embrace these experiences with a confident new outlook and understanding of self.

Written to American Psychology Association standards, parents can use the books as certified guides of instruction. In fact, these books have been successfully implemented in sessions with child psychologists yielding amazing results in raising a child’s self-esteem.

While the stories are lessons, they are not designed with the heavy hand of instruction, but rather the gentle, guiding hand of a new friend. The Playdate Kids are role models in social interaction and behavior, designed to appeal to all kids

This is a great book for parents to use as a teaching tool to let children know that it is ok to tell scary or bad secrets to a parent, teacher, counselor, coach, or to another adult they trust. The back pages of the book give tips on how to keep good secrets; how to tell if a scary secret is hurting someone it should be shared with an adult; along with things to do to help children tell the difference between good and bad secrets.

Read this book at family time to start conversations with children about secret keeping. This book should be in every library and part of a pre-school curriculum.

Midwest Book Review:
The ‘Growing-Up series from Playdate Kids Publishing is a charmingly illustrated series of books for young children that focus on commonly encountered problems that range from parental break up, to the death of pet. Thoroughly “kid friendly’, and very strongly recommended for family, school, and community library collections. This series offers an outstanding title for many family transitions.

Endorsed by: American Psychological Association, Publisher’s Weekly, Wisconsin CA, NY, NJ, and VT Unified School District, as well as many other state libraries, teachers, doctors and psychologists.

The Playdate Kids are proud supporters of the Clare Foundation, Child Help, Wright Foundation, Kids In Distress, Malibu Global Awareness, Doctors Without Borders, Betty Ford Foundation and Alcohol Anonymous.

Award Recipient of: National Family Center Seal of Approval, Family Review Center Gold Seal Award, Mom’s Choice Award, Indie-Excellence Award, USA Best Books Award, Reader’s View Award, The New Parents Guide Seal of Approval, and American Baby Center Gold Seal Award.
