This DBQ is designed to test a student's knowledge of the Middle Ages in Europe and is in Microsoft Word. The format is based on the New York State Regents Exams in Social Studies for U.S. History and Global History and Geography, but it can be modified to suit the needs or format of any state.

In particular, students are asked to accomplish the following tasks:
Choose two of the developments and/or events mentioned in the Historical Context and for each:
� Describe the causes of the development / event
� Explain the effects of the development /event on the politics, economics, and society of medieval Europe
