Machiavelli's The Prince examines politics during the Renaissance, changing the way people looked at government in the same manner that art and literature were forever changed. Any study of the Renaissance and politics must take into account Machiavelli's examination of politics how it is not an idealized version. Have your students turn the Prince into an advice column for princes, allowing them to delineate both the problems and the solutions offered by Machiavelli.
