Math game to teach and reinforce the concept of decimals to the tenths. Students play the game similar to the card game War. The player that lays the card with the greatest decimal keeps the cards. This can also be used as an ordering activity where the students order the decimals from greatest to least.
Great idea! I took this concept and modified/expanded it. I added cards to include hundredths and thousandths places. There are no identical values to initiate a "war", I added these cards. The instructions are then that if someone draws a "war" card, then everyone must play three cards and ADD them! Variations include how many cards are drawn during a war. Also, these cards can be used for number line work.
This game is a great way to reinforce decimals. Your "Decimal War Card Game" was the featured "Free Lesson of the Day" on "The Best of Teachers Pay Teachers."
Hope you are having a great school year,
Vicky
