Begin by the year by reading the book Second Grade Rules, Amber Brown to your class. Just as Deskarina visits Amber Brown's class in search of clean desks, she can visit yours! Surprise desk checks once a week will do wonders to keep your room neat! Wait until the students are gone for the day, and pick 2-3 "good desks". Leave a note from Deskarina, sprinkle the desk with a little glitter (fairy dust, of course) and a small prize (pencil, eraser, etc.). Pick 2-3 students to stay in and clean their desks out. It will be a huge hit in your classroom!
