Good readers are often able to use context clues to determine the meanings of unfamiliar words, when they are available in the text. These students notice the words and phrases in a passage that can assist them in figuring out what an unknown word means. Struggling readers who are not able to do this should be given direct instruction in how to effectively look for these types of clues. This lesson provides support for the struggling reader.
**** Bonus worksheets have been added for finding clues for restatements and compare/contrast words.
What a great product! The clarity of your language made me feel "safe". That's a weird way to explain it since I am an adult. But I think that the clarity you provide gives such a solid foundation.
Nice product! I will use this in my classroom! I'm going to follow you so that I can send some of the teachers that I support to your site because I think it would be very helpful for them. Thanks again! Peggy Simpson (Rescue Dogs' Series)
I absolutely love this idea. I can't wait to use it in my reading center. Thank you for a great free product. I'm following you now.
