This lesson provides students with an opportunity to transfer knowledge and apply what they have learned about the process of creating the Bill of Rights to the United States Constitution by emulating that process to create a Classroom Bill of Rights. This lesson addresses Illinois and national standards in Social Science, Mathematics and English Language Arts. This lesson can be adapted for students in grades three through eleven. Michelle McFarland-McDaniels has included a reflection and recommendations for differentiating this lesson.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Grades Taught:

I am currently teaching fourth grade Reading, Language Arts and Social Studies. I am certified to teach all subjects from K-9. I am considered highly qualified under NCLB to teach algebra, art, biological sciences, drama/theatre arts, self-contained elementary, English as a Second language, general science, geography, history, instrumental music, language arts, physical science, political science/civics, reading, Title I Remedial Math, Title I Remedial Reading and vocal music. I also have experience teaching at the college level.
