TEACHING EXPERIENCE

From an early age I knew that teaching was my destiny. Throughout my career I have been a Pre-K through 8th grade teacher. I have taught English as a 2nd language around the world to children and adults. For the past 10 years I have been a 5th grade teacher. My love of technology led me to become a Certified SMART Board trainer. As a child I was given the message by my math teachers that math was not my strength. But, as a teacher I realized it was not my weakness, but the weakness of those teachers who did not figure out how to teach me so I could learn the mathematical concepts. Because of this experience I became a coach for a Mathletes team and strive to teach math in a way all of students can master the concepts. Since I believe in teaching the whole child I became trained to be a Character Counts educator. For me, learning is a life long endeavor. I model it daily in my classroom and try to inspire all of my students will be life long learners as well.
