Dinosaur Decoding is a prehistoric-themed nonsense word game designed to help students with their decoding skills. Use this game to reinforce blending using the open and closed syllable rules, consonant blends, single and double vowels, and beginning and ending sounds. This 36 page file contains, game board, directions, and 256 nonsense words - which are refered to as "EXTINCT" words as well as 8 "Erupt" cards. Students take turns decoding and collecting as many cards as possible before the erupting volcanoes get them! Tons of fun for the little ones!

I found the words to be too hard with too many blends and double vowels. Would have liked to have seen more cvc words.

Great idea! I bought this because I can use this with my high kinders. Would you consider making a game for the low-medium kinders with CVC nonsense words?

I really like the idea behind this game. I purchased it for kindergarten. I wish I could have been able to see more of the words the kids are going to sound out. Most are too hard for kinders (at least where mine are....) But the game is great for fast or advanced readers who know long vowels. I probably would have waited to purchase it.
