Great preplanned activities that are typed in an outline. Activities appear engaging and will be loved by my Kindergarten class. I love the black-line masters and how I don't have to worry about making sure some are printed in color! Very user friendly!

This thematic unit plan is very well thought out and prepared. Components are put together nicely and look professional. Unfortunately, most of the packet is unusable for my private school classroom, which I discovered after purchasing. I wish I could have had a better look at the unit before purchasing. I asked about it's appropriateness but the answer I was given was vague, leading me to believe that the seller just didn't know what would be appropriate for a private school. That's understandable. However, I cannot recommend this product for private schools because most of its content involves periods in Earth's history from millions of years ago. It's also geared toward younger students and probably isn't well suited for 3rd grade students. Thank you for your prompt response and quality work, Michelle! I just wish I had known more about your product before my purchase.

I am a little disappointed that you have left a poor rating solely based on your school environment but if that is your true perception of the unit then I accept it and thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I think I explained the unit fairly well when I contacted you previously as the content is not the main focus of the activities, but rather the creative applications. I have taught this unit in a religious school many times without any problem - by focussing on the creative aspects rather than the content. Once again I am so sorry that you are unhappy. Hi Ahoykaty and thank you for your query. My thematic units are all based on creative thinking and creative expression activities. "Facts and figures" do come into the unit but they can easily be adapted to suit your needs and requirements. Many of the activities have a variety of "spin off" integration work that allows you to expand the theme as you see fit. The types of activities included in this unit are: using question words and obtaining information from the past, "finding" and making fossils, how did dinosaurs become fossils, gathering information from artefacts or pictures, looking at dinosaur habitats and creating a "habitat" mural, recording weather in your area, measuring (mass and length) using standard and non-standard measures, data collection (graphs and tables), oral/creative writing activities, a dinosaur research project, design a new dinosaur, shapes, oral hygiene (and dinosaur teeth), looking at extinction and endangered species, and numerous art ideas. Sure, there are discussion type activities that could extend as far as you see fit, but the majority of the content can very easily be adapted to suit any environment. The focus is most certainly on CREATIVITY, using dinosaurs to spark your students imagination! I hope this helps! All the best, happy teaching! Michelle
