25 slides walking you and your students through three explorations of dissolving and the scientific process. Cooperative learning structures are built in throughout. Teacher notes outline each slide.
The first few slides engage students in defining and identify examples and nonexamples of dissolving.
The next set begins your first exploration of stirring. Each exploration has a journal slide that demonstrates what is to be written in journals (question, hypothesis, data, and conclusions). The next slide outlines procedures and provides job assignments for groups of four. The last slide is a writing prompt for students to refer to when writing conclusions.
The second exploration is formatted similarly and explores water temperature's affect on dissolving.
The third exploration is a little different. Students are involved more in the planning process and review variables in formulating their materials lists. This exploration relates to surface area's affect on dissolving.
Finally, the last six slides are designed for you. Resave the PP as a PDF and you can print the student data grids and exit slips for each exploration.
