These materials are great supplements to a beginning division unit (with and without remainders). However, most activities focus on division without remainders.
This purpose of this 18 page unit is to supplement your current division unit. This unit contains three games, one vocabulary assessment and one division post test.
This unit includes:
Grab and Divide- The first game is a hands-on game to practice dividing manipulatives into equal shares. It practices dividing with and without remainders. The game uses one die and can be differentiated by the number of sides on the die. For example, struggling learners could play this game with a 6 sided die, but more advanced learners could play the game with a 12 sided die.
Division Vocabulary Concentration- The next game is a vocabulary concentration game to familiarize students with division terms.
Vocabulary Assessment- The multiple choice vocabulary assessment does not use the exact same terms as the concentration game. The vocabulary assessment restates the terms in another manner.
Fact Family Go Fish- This game models the relationship between division and multiplication by having students match number sentences to create a multiplication and division fact family.
Post Test- This post test also includes the vocabulary words which ARE directly from the concentration cards, using repeated subtraction to divide, dividing with sets or groups and two word problems.
