It's particularly relevant to my geographic area, where there are a lot of students of Indian descent (i.e. parents emigrated from India), but an interesting cultural element that could be used anywhere you'd like to include a bit more global context.

Me too! And it frees me up to use some Christmas related activites (which absolutely tie in to appreciating French culture) when I'm recognizing the celebrations of other cultures within my class as well! :-)
