Did you know that leaves don't actually change color? Instead their "Fall color" is always there, its just hiding under the green as leaf makes cholorphyll to make food during the Spring and Summer. When the leaf stops making chlorophyll, its true colors are revealed.
In this activity the children color the WHOLE leaf the color of their choice, then color just the spring side green, illustrating the fact that the color is always there instead of "changing color" in the Fall!
