The activities in this packet are SUPER FUN! Your students are going to feel so confident as they work out beginning division problems using the doggie-themed printable counters, work mats, and fact cards. They will be proud to record their answers on their doggie-themed Discovery Sheet. This bundle includes several activities and has many opportunities for differentiation.
This Doggie Division bundle includes:
*48 Division Fact Cards
*48 Quotient Cards
*13 Division Grouping Mats (0-10 and 2 blank) with the number they are dividing by listed at the top with the number of groups, in addition to the groups sectioned off in the work space
*3 different sets of 24 printable doggie-themed counters for physical manipulation of the original number to make equal groups
*2 Doggie Division Discoveries Recording Sheets (1-24 and 25-48) optional
*2 Doggie Division Discoveries Answer Sheets
Students will match the division fact cards to the quotient cards using the division grouping mats and manipulatives (included) to arrive at the answer. Students may then record their discoveries on their recording sheet (provided) Students can work in groups or individually.
Additional Activities:
Concentration - Match division fact to quotient card without using the grouping mat.
Division War - Divide division fact card by the number of players and have students turn over one card at the time. They have to say the quotient out loud. If they are correct and their quotient is the lowest number, they win that round. The player with the most cards when the cards run out at the end of the game is the winner.
Fact Families - Have students build an array with the members of the fact family from the division sentence and then complete the fact family adding the multiplication sentences. They can use the printable doggie-themed manipulatives included in this activity packet to build their arrays.
Thank you for looking. I hope your students enjoy these activities as much as mine do. If you purchase this fraction bundle, please remember to leave feedback. I am always anxious to hear what other teachers think of my creations, always inspired from my direct classroom instruction. Also, be sure to check out my other files :)
So glad you found this useful for your students :) This is where I started with my students in division, after I introduced multiplication and divison fact families using my Flip Flop Commutative Fun files. Because they had some background on how multiplication and division are related, they were able to grasp the concept of division. I have created word problems that I use with my students to help them get ready for end-of-year system testing (2nd grade), and the workmats are lifesaver for my students in figuring out how to solve the problem. Always great to hear other success stories :) Thank you :)
Thank you so much :) I have actually made a paper copy of the division mats and counters for the kids to keep in their homework folder to use in class or at home whenever they need to. This has helped them soooooo much and they are ALL getting it! I hope your students see the same success my students have seen :)
