May 2012--This product has been updated and improved!! In addition to all of the skills listed below, this workbook now covers more areas in language arts as seen on the state test and benchmark tests, including guide words, questioning skills, sentence correction, and writing skills. Plus, cute Scrappin Doodles graphics have been added to make the workbook more student friendly!
This is a 17 page workbook to accompany the story "Dragon Gets By" by Dav Pilkey. Skills covered include: author's purpose, context clues, consonant clusters, digraphs, compound words, inferences, punctuation, summarizing, syllables, predicting, fact/opinion, parts of speech, matching skills, antonyms, true/false, homophones, sequencing, facts and details, picture clues, vocabulary, character analysis, sorting and classification, pronouns, story organization, making connections, subject/predicate, correct word order in sentences, ABC order, identifying narrator, spelling, main idea of a page, word endings, sentence types, vowels sounds, soft and hard c and g, and cause and effect. This has been an invaluable tool in covering state standards and helping my students with comprehension and numerous language arts skills.
The page numbers referenced in this workbook correspond to the story in the Houghton Mifflin® Anthology "Adventures" from their California Reading program. If you are using another version of "Dragon Gets By", this will still be useful to you, but you may have to modify a few things. If you like this product, check out my workbooks for other stories in the "Adventures" and "Delights" anthology books. Tell your 3rd and 4th grade teacher friends that I have workbooks available for their stories too!
