Everyone can learn to draw and every one can learn to draw better. The trick to it is to look and see the lines and shapes that make up the object to be drawn. Drawing is like any skill, it is improved with practice.

Dana Sundgren presents interesting pictures and demonstrates how to draw them in short simple steps, using a combination of lines, curves, zig-zags, circles, crosses and star bursts. Each page is dedicated to a special theme that children are able to manage and enjoy completing.
Drawing is an important part of literary development. As children draw together, they often tell stories and readily "read" their drawings to each other. Young children consider their drawings to be actual writing. Children can look at their drawings and clearly retell a story and convey quite often a sophisticated meaning.

All children will benefit from simple suggestions and activities to develop the skill of visual expression.
