This common core resource contains 64 task cards specifically written for and aligned to CCSS 5.L.1.

L.5.1. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.

Explain the function of conjunctions, prepositions, and interjections in general and their function in particular sentences.

Form and use the perfect (e.g., I had walked; I have walked; I will have walked) verb tenses.

Use verb tense to convey various times, sequences, states, and conditions.

Recognize and correct inappropriate shifts in verb tense.

Use correlative conjunctions (e.g., either/or, neither/nor).

Each task card is grouped into skill and numbered for easy organization and labeled with the CCSS in the lower left corner.

How do you use these in your classroom?

I use these in a few different ways. Sometimes we use them as exit slips and I will project the card on the Elmo, sometimes as a class review again on the ELMo, as an independent work station, in a small group with me in a reteaching setting, and sometimes I even print a page of four and send them for homework. Because it is only four problems, I require them to explain in writing why their answer is correct. And, you can always play Scoot!
