Sorry, this is the first purchase I've made on this website; however, I'm still a little confused. I can't find the link detailing the lab portion of my purchase. The only link I see is the owl pellet animation.
Posted on: November 16, 2008
Reply by: Lisa Michalek (s)
Hi Zak – The actual contents of your owl pellets and skulls that are found within your pellets will vary depending on what the owls have eaten, which is usually dependent on where you obtain the pellets and the location of the owls. When I have purchased pellets, skull and bone diagrams are included with the purchase of the owl pellets. Lisa Michalek

Hello Lisa, I purchased the owl pellet lab/food chain ppt and only five slides can be downloaded. The ppt ends on the second bullet explaining to carefully break the pellet open. How can I recieve the rest of the lab? Thank you. Zak

Hi Lisa,
I purchased the full year health curriculum and think it's a great product. My school needs to know whether it's been approved by any particular school district and in which schools, if any, it's been used.
Thanks,

Hi - Your lessons look wonderful and I'm anxious to try one.
1. Have your included citations?
2. There appear to be numerous problems downloading. What are the issues?
thanks,Jane

Hi Jane, 1) If citations are necessary they would be included. 2) There have only been a handful of issues with downloading, all customers have been helped (as I ususally contact Paul if there is a note on the message board and we email the customer). I think one of the issues was a mac vs PC download issue and the others were that customers needed to right click and then save the download to their computer. As I have said, we have helped all customers and they have received their purchased products. Lisa Michalek

Hi Nymets - I use winzip to open zip files (www.winzip.com). They offer a free version at www.winzip.com/trialpay.htm or you can download a free 45 day evaluation version. I'm sure that there are other options available, but this is the program that I use. Lisa

I am interested in purchasing your year long health course. I have a couple questions. 1) Which grade level was this course designed for? I am teaching both 8th and 10th grade. 2) Is this course designed for Health to be taught 5 days per week or less frequently? 3) If I purchase the product will I get a hard copy of the course or does it all come downloaded? Thank you!
Posted on: August 27, 2008
Reply by: Lisa Michalek (s)
Hi Srlevey,
1 - This course has been designed for 9-12 grade levels. However, it could easily be adapted for the 8th grade level. There would be certain topics (such as Cancer and Human Reproduction that would need to be modified - removing content that was above grade level). All my materials are user-modifiable, you have full access (if you own PowerPoint, Word) to modify to your individual needs.
2 - This has been designed to be taught every other day for a full year or every day for 1/2 a year. The only piece that I personally add into this curriculum is guest speakers from the community for every unit.
3 - If you purchase on Teachers Pay Teachers you will download the full digital copy. I do sell the same exact material on Amazon ("Health for High School") (same price + shipping) if you would like a hard copy. In the future, TPT will be offering the option to purchase hard copies and I will have them available on TPT when that is set up.

Hi Juanita,
Thank you for your question, it sounds like you are working toward a very useful program for the teachers in your area.
My teaching materials (including PowerPoint presentations) are posted for individual use by teachers who purchase the materials. After purchase, my materials (or parts of my materials) should not be posted on a website for distribution in the manner you have suggested.
If you would like I could provide screen shots to you via email of the materials you are interested in. You could then direct the teachers TPT where they could purchase, download and then use the product in their classroom. If this is of interest to you, feel free to send me an email (zard92@rochester.rr.com) with the products you are interested in and I will provide the screen shot (jpg) and link to the product from my catalog.

I work in GA and we are making materials for students with significant cognitive disabilities to access the general education curriculum to meet NCLB requirements and our alternative assessment. We have a statewide website where teachers can download materials - may I use some of your slides if I purchase the product. I would give you credit and will not use the entire product just a few of your slides.

Hi Robspresley(c)
Yes, you can view and use the PowerPoint presentations without the actual program. Microsoft offers a free PowerPoint Viewer that you can download at the following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=048DC840-14E1-467D-8DCA-19D2A8FD7485&displaylang=en
"PowerPoint Viewer 2007 lets you view full-featured presentations created in PowerPoint 97 and later versions. This viewer also supports opening password-protected Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. You can view and print presentations, but you cannot edit them in the PowerPoint Viewer 2007."

Hi hcrutch(c)
You may add to or alter any of my materials – they are not protected documents.
However, you may not share or distribute these altered materials with other teachers or post on the Internet as I retain copyright on my original work and any altered materials.
If you are altering my products for a course project, I would make sure to reference where you obtained my materials and exactly what was altered in your presentation. Be very careful with this – as it would be considered plagiarism if you took credit for my work.

I am currently completing a student teaching requirement for 9-10 Biology, Pre-AP Biology and Anatomy. My concerns are if I can alter or deviate with alternate assignments, any of the material for my 'regular' biology classes to meet 'special' accomodations, in particular IEP's and SpecEd. What kind of copyright priviledges can I use? What information will need to be included at the end of the PP presentations?
Thanks, hcrutch

Hi Jo - I did not create this program, so I am not sure how it was created. In the bottom left corner of the program is the name of the person who wrote and is giving this program away.
I agree that it is a great little program - and since I did not create it, I have posted it for others to have for free.
It appears that it was made using Macromedia Flash player. I agree that this would be a great way to motivate students in other areas of science. Good Luck!!
