I am a student teacher and have used several powerpoints to lecture with. My mentor would like me to use other strategies. Do you have a suggestion as to how to use your powerpoints and include some student activity--it is for a 9th grade class

Thanks for the email. I try to limit lecture to 20 minutes a day, especially with the 9th graders... try mixing in a review game (I have JEOPARDY games for most topics available on TpT) in which the kids are divided into groups and compete against one another. I also include weekly lab activities to supplement lecure content. Anything to get them up out of there seats and interacting with one another (while remaining on task of course) is key. Remember that they're oftern more likley to learn from one another than they are from their teacher.... What subject are you teaching now? TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Mr. Wylam received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Oregon State University and his education credential from Western Oregon University. He is currently enjoying his 11th year as a science teacher. An avid skiier and college football enthuasist, Mr. Wylam enjoys being active and outdoors.
