This subtraction activity is differentiated to meet the needs of your kinesthetic learners who need to move and is also tiered to meet the various readiness levels of your students. Students search your room for 'monsters' with subtraction problems. When they find one, they record the problem and use the attached numberline or other teacher supplied manipulative to complete the problem. One tier focuses on subtration from 5-0, the next their is subtraction 10-0 and the last is 15-0. You don't have to settle with teaching to the middle with this fun, math center activity. This was so much fun for my first graders...and we used it in Nov. not during Easter:) Great reinforcement subtraction activity. I LOVED the differentiation.
I bought this for the recording page since my class was having difficulty writing subtraction sentences. Since the recording page is colored to match the cards, I am going to have the students put them in sleeves and use whiteboard markers during their walk. It'd be great to have more number sentences in each level to trade out.
Thanks for your feedback. I certainly appreciate it. My class usually can only complete about the number of cards I included in this set during our math station time in my class. If they master one level, I let them do the next set. But I do think adding more cards is a GREAT idea. I will definately do that in my next set that I'm putting out. Hope your kids love it as much as mine do!
