Based on the game Outburst. There are 101 categories to be printed on index cards. Each category has a list of 10 items. Students work in small groups. If group cannot guess all of the words, the player with the list must describe & define the word. I separate the cards by difficulty - easy topics on green, medium on yellow, and difficult on red. That way I can use with several classes, match the ability level of the individual students, or start easy & work up to a harder level. Categories examples: fruits, people, chateaux, drinks, animals.
This is one of those activities that I always thought of doing but never got around to doing so. It would be nice if I didn't have to open a new file for each category, but other than that, we had fun playing Eclat in class.
I have taught French at the high school level for 18 years. I have also taught enrichment classes to younger students and continuing education to adults.
