This is a very short and very simple lab activity in which the student will model the greenhouse effect.

Purpose:
1. To model the greenhouse effect in a laboratory setting.
2. To practice the scientific method by forming a hypothesis and using laboratory data to support or refute the hypothesis.
3. To reinforce data collection and graphing skills.

Materials: Large containers, Graduated cylinder, Aluminum foil, 2 Thermometers, Tape, Water, Stopwatch, Lab lamp.

I use this activity when teaching my unit: Introduction to Ecology.

The 3-page student worksheet has: Title, Purpose, Materials, Procedure, Data Table, Graph, and 9 Analysis Questions. Teacher Preparation pages provide tips for set-up as well as the answer to all questions.
