This chart is intended to provide a summary of some of the major economic systems discussed in Global History, including nomads, subsistence farmers, manorialism, mercantilism, capitalism, and communism.
For each economic system, the following questions are answered:
- What goods and services shall be produced and in what quanitities?
- How shall goods and services be produced?
- For whom shall goods and services be produced?
Glad to hear that this will be helpful. If you have any suggestions on how I could improve it, please feel free to share.
I have a project I'm creating that I hope to post soon that will have students select a product (ex. a cup of coffee from a local store) and research how all of the parts (ex. coffee beans, the paper / styrofoam cup, the plastic top) were grown/produced, distributed (sold, moved, etc.) and eventually consumed. Used in conjuction with the chart, I think it will provide students a way to actually see how an "economy" works to meet the needs of the people.
