I created this substitute packet after two years of being a substitute myself. To make this product, I drew on my experiences as a sub and made sure to include portions that I knew would have been helpful and much appreciated in my own substituting experiences. This product contains a variation of pages to help you build the best and most complete substitute information packet.
This product contains 88 pages in a PowerPoint format. You can print these slides one at a time or as a whole group on 8.5" x 11" copy paper.
The packet's binder dividers/cover pages all feature the following components:
-a light gray chevron background
-three, multi-colored polka-dot owls at the bottom of the page
- a cute, loopy frame in the middle of the page
-a decorative, polka-dot font as the title
Each binder divider/cover comes in three title colors: green, black, and pink. These colors all coordinate with the clipart owls at the bottom of the page, and you can pick the color scheme that fits most closely to your classroom decor and personal preferences.
Between the binder dividers/cover pages are information pages that you can fill in yourself, either with ink pen or by typing the information onto the form. The information page features the same clipart owls at the bottom and the same polka-dot title at the top to keep everything cohesive. I even drew up some fill-in-the-blank pages to help you think of every possible tidbit of information your substitute could need to make his/her day go smoothly!
There are also copies of all pages with NO writing so that you can completely customize this product to your needs by inserting your own words, font, font colors, etc.
This is an editable file, and you must have PowerPoint in order to open it. Because of my graphic artists' Terms of Use, I "flattened" the images, meaning that users cannot move individual images on the page. However, users CAN insert text boxes (or edit the ones I've already inserted for you) in order to type directly onto the slides.
This is what I've been meaning to do for years! Thanks for putting it all together and making it so cute!

I was hoping there would be more details and "fill-in the blank" sections in the download. I debated buying or not and I was disappointed. The pictures are beautiful but the forms didn't help me at all. :(
I'm sorry you're disappointed in this purchase, but I do appreciate your honest feedback. I'd love to know more of your thoughts -- for instance, what other details would you like to see? What other "fill in the blank" sections would you prefer be included? You could e-mail me at TheTeacherGarden (at) yahoo (dot) com. I'd love to know what I could change on this packet to make everyone 100% happy!
The only thing I would like to change, and not sure if it is even possible is the ability to delete certain sections on sheets that do not apply. Example- students to watch. Other then that I love it and am in the process of creating a sub binder.
Thank you for the feedback; I really do appreciate it!
I tried to allow users the ability to make their own sheets by providing blank templates in each section, but I understand what you mean about being able to delete certain sections. The reason the file doesn't allow deleting of the titles is because I had to "flatten" the slides to comply with my clipart's TOU. I wrote the prompts as sort-of an "inspiration page," so that we could be sure nothing was left out of the sub packet (I subbed last year and had some...er, crazy experiences, so I think that's why I included a little more info that was needed! :) ).
An easy fix would be to use a blank template (provided in the packet) and the font "Janda Everyday Casual" (the one I used to fill in the pages) to create pages of your own with whatever headers you'd like. I know it's not QUITE as convenient, but at least then you could customize it to fit your class's needs perfectly!
Thanks again for your feedback. Hope you have a great school year!

Sooooo, Do you take requests by chance? If so, could you make one of these sub packets in a jungle theme? Or maybe browns and greens? If not, I have NO PROBLEM buying this super cute owl one you already have. I just figured it didn't hurt to ask. ;)
You know, I've actually been thinking of making another sub packet, but I just didn't know which design to use. Making a jungle theme and/or a browns/greens packet sounds like a fabulous idea. :) Why don't you email me (TheTeacherGarden@yahoo.com) and we can discuss exactly what you're looking for. I want to make sure I get it right! :)
