A set of 6 ready-made lesson plan templates designed expressly for K-5 elementary school librarians, teacher-librarians, and/or elementary school library media specialists.
These documents are NOT complete lesson plans on a given topic/subject! They are a customizable tool to create and/or modify your own lesson plans.
The National and Pennsylvania Common Core English Language Arts Standards, PA Academic Standards, and AASL Standards are already included in the templates. All you need to do as the teacher-librarian is delete the ones that don't apply to the lesson you are creating. Not all of the standards are included, just the ones that are most applicable to library and information literacy instruction.
Each lesson template is a 6- or 7-page Microsoft Word document that includes spaces for the following components:
Big Ideas & Essential Questions
Assessments, including possible choices
Bibliography of Resources Used
A note about the preview file and thumbnails: They do not show the complete lesson plan template for 4th grade, only part of it, so that you can get an idea of the format and structure of the full product.
Updated 5/2013 - I added National Common Core Standards and Big Ideas & Essential Questions (as per Understanding by Design framework) from the new PA Library Model Curriculum. If you aren't familiar with the Model Curriculum, check it out at http://www.pdesas.org
under the Curriculum tab.
