The following novel study is for Esperanza Rising. It has a guided reading suggestion with 15 days or 30 hours of suggested activities to cover the story. Also included are graphic organizers for story elements, vocabulary, changes, problem/solution and timeline.
A great resource. Some of the organizers were for the primary grades and I teach 6th grade. I am always looking for resources that can fit into our level too.
Excellent Novel Study Guide. I am using it in my 4th grade classroom as whole class, and it can definitely be used in literature circles/small groups and individual for in class or homework. The activities are well thought out and creative. There are some excellent ideas in here!! The activities include key skills from inferencing to comprehension and summarizing. The journal responses are quick and meaningful and there are many ways to mix and match what is included to best suit your needs. Thank you so much!
At the time I created this, we were not in the midst of common core, but I referenced Texas standards as I created it so it should align in many ways although Texas does not use common core. I can go through it and mark the standards that have been covered. I will let you know as soon as I have that done.

Why do you misidentify the title in this work? Her name is ESPERANZA not ESMERELDA!!!! Disappointing.
This is my 7th year teaching the 5th grade. I have been lucky enough to work in the most amazing campus. I teach reading in a departmentalized campus in the upper elementary grades and I am enjoying it! Reading is a passion of mine!
