This is an essay rubric that, totalled, equals 100 points. It is divided into three sections: Content, Style, and MUGS (mechanics, usage, grammar, spelling). Each section is specifically outlined for students including sentence variety, use of literary elements, sentence structure, use of detail, etc. There is also a section for bonus if students use selected vocbalary from class study (can be removed). At the bottom, there is space to write specific strengths, weaknesses, and what a student should focus on. I conference with students on every writing assignment and this rubric ensures that each conference is differentiated to meet each student's writing needs.

I formerly taught high school mathematics for two years out of my certification area. Although it was challenging, I truly loved it. I was fortunate enough to procure a position in the area of my passion: English. I have taught 8th grade English for five years. I am consistently and constantly seeking out ways or trying to create materials that take the passivity out of the English classroom and inspires some of my passion in my students. I recently finished my MSE in cuuriculum and instruction.
