I use a persuasion unit to teaching various rhetorical and stylistic techniques, as well as more research practice, as I think working with nonfiction is often much more helpful to students than literature. In any event, I give you most of my resources--the rest are in other downloads (an editorial assignment and debates--and I'll let you decide how long you want to spend on the issue; you can focus on the basics and just use the resources for individual lessons, or you can prep units from anywhere between 2 to 8 weeks.
Included are handouts, quizzes, paper and creative assignments (a make your own ad assignment), models of various forms of persuasion, activities, lesson plans, etc. There is not, I repeat, a clear roadmap of what to do every minute, every hour, every day--that's for you to decide. Pick and choose what works for you and construct your own plan.

I've taught English at high schools in the Chicago suburbs and currently teach as an adjunct Comp/rhetoric instructor at area community colleges. I'm also currently a curriculum and assessment consultant and have worked with ACT, NAGB, McGraw Hill, MacNeil Lehrer Productions, Scott Foresman, and more.
