This is a 16 page workbook to accompany the story "Exploring Parks with Ranger Dockett" by Alice K. Flanagan. Skills covered include: author's purpose, context clues, consonant clusters, digraphs, compound words, punctuation, summarizing, syllables, predicting, multiple meaning words, fact/opinion, parts of speech, synonyms/antonyms, true/false, singular and plural nouns, homophones, verb tense, picture clues, vocabulary, pronouns, proper nouns, making connections, main idea, adding details, drawing conclusions, main idea and supporting details, subject/predicate, reference materials, spelling, correct word order, identifying narrator, soft and hard c and g, ABC order, vowel sounds, grammar, sentence types and cause and effect. This has been an invaluable tool in covering state standards and helping my students with comprehension and numerous language arts skills. The page numbers referenced in this workbook correspond to the story in the Houghton Mifflin® Anthology "Adventures" from their California Reading program. If you are using another version of "Exploring Parks with Ranger Dockett", this will still be useful to you, but you may have to modify a few things. If you like this product, check out my workbooks for other stories in the "Adventures" and "Delights" anthology books. Tell your 3rd grade teacher friends that I have workbooks available for their stories too!
