I am currently in my 12th year of elementary education. I started my career teaching fifth grade. After three years in fifth grade I transferred within my school district to a third grade position. In 2006 I completed my masters degree and attained a Reading Specialist Certification. For the last 8 years I have team taught with a special education teacher in an inclusion model. I have many experiences with children who are struggling readers. The school I teach at is located in a suburb of Chicago and has a population that is about 97% low-income.
