PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Updated and with new color scheme 10/10/2013
This lesson looks at the reasons European powers decided to colonize Africa, the process of taking it over, and the results for Africa and Europe. In the Powerpoint there is a 72 slide timed presentation of photos and commentary focusing on:
• Britain taking over Egypt
• Leopold the II of Belgium's especially brutal conquest and treatment of the Congo.
• The Conquest of S. Africa
• The Scramble for Africa after 1880

I typically accompany these timed slide shows with music to set a proper mood for the students. However, the timings can be disarmed and the slides discussed individually.

In the PowerPoint, the color flowchart develops slide by slide while other notes for the students scroll down the side. This also includes a student reading embedded in the notes sectionof the first slide. Random notes and trivia are integrated into this expanded version.
