This is a short course in film and theater production. It can be delivered to potential writers, directors and actors to ages 12 and above. By the time students complete this series of exercises, they should be ready to start developing their own productions.
What sets this course apart from many is that it shows film and theater production as a collaborative art with defined roles. Writers become better screenwriters when they understand how to work with directors and actors. Actors become better performers when they understand how scripts are written. Directors benefit from working as the leader of equals on a production team. It is startling to note how many writers have never worked with actors, and how few actors have never written a single script.
This course delivers a wide variety of skills, ranging from writing, acting and directing to how to work as a member of a functional creative team, from how to give and receive notes to how to comfortably play a defined role on a given project.
