I'm not sure if there is a standard name for this kind of thing, but I call it a scavenger hunt. I like it because it is essentially the same work for the students as if you had given them a worksheet with some problems on it. but this is more mobile and more fun for them so they are generally much more engaged.
The topic for this scavenger hunt is using FOIL to multiply binomials.
To use it, you print out all the slides in this file and post them up randomly on the walls and other furniture (I like to hang them from the ceiling for fun) in your room.
Each slide has an equation on the bottom and an answer to a different equation on the top. Students pick any place to start and solve the equation. Then they look around to find their answer on one of the other sheets around the room. The solution to the equation on the next sheet will lead them to a 3rd sheet and so on until they get back to their starting point.
I made a space theme for this scavenger hunt. So what I do is have students write down the pictures in the order they solve them and use the answer key on the 1st page of the file to verify that they got the right answers (or to tell them where they messed up).
Please let me know if my description isn't very clear. It is a simple activity to do but I seem to be long-winded about explaining it.
Just make sure you don't post the sheets up in order! :)
