As the election draws near and debates have been watched, everyone is buzzing about the Presidential Election! Many of my kids have been talking about which candidate they liked best, but couldn't tell me why.
This nine-page election activity really got my kids thinking! I hid the identities of each candidate while discussing their backgrounds and what they stood for.
The activity includes:
- cover sheet with directions
- background/issue sheet for each candidate
- note to teacher (about whether or not/when to reveal names)
- voting ballots
- blank bar graph to graph results of mock election
When we completed our mock election, some were surprised to find that they didn't choose the candidate they had previously mentioned. :)
Want to get your kids involved in the election? Want to help them get a better understanding of the candidates and why it's so important to vote? Try this activity and get the discussion going!
