This Grab It! math center allows students to explore plane and solid geometric shapes while playing a fun game. It is played like Spoons.
Directions:
Get out one less stick than the number of players that you have.
1.Set sticks (or whatever you want to use) in the middle of the table.
2. One player shuffles and deals 2 cards to each player.
3. The player who passed out the cards will pick up a card and decide if they need it. If so, they take it and pass one of their other cards to the next player. If they don't need it, then they pass it to the next player. When the two cards in their hand match, they can sneakily grab a stick. The rest of the players must grab a stick also when they notice one has been taken. One player will be left without a stick.
4. The player without a stick gets the stick from another player and sits out.
5. Continue to play until one person remains.
I differentiate this center by having the students call the shape, # of sides, # and kinds of angles, or real life example. Other differentiated math centers be found here on TpT by me, CTG.
