Individual whiteboards are a fantastic tool for differentiating instruction and keeping students engaged in the learning process! This FREE lesson details how to introduce whiteboard use to your students in a fun format. Besides the lesson, this packet includes a chart of rules for whiteboard use, a chart of Word Creator procedures, a bonus Word Creator puzzle page (Celebrate Spring) and a master for creating Word Creator letter tiles. Your students will have fun with this activity, and they will be amazed at how many words they can create from the sample phrase. Using the whiteboards and letter tiles makes the activity much more appropriate for a variety of learning styles. Students will also exercise problem-solving skills when they build words from roots by adding prefixes or suffixes. A great resource. The instructions for the white board use are simple and straight forward. I ordered and received individual white boards a few months ago and I am glad that I can now bring them out with confidence.

This lesson is clear, complete, and usable for all levels. I can see its application for young ESL learners (using a simple word matrix) and even as a 'warm-up' exercise for AP English in high school, using a short time limit. Nice work! Thank you!

My teaching experience includes 25 years as a K-12 teacher, curriculum administrator, and district federal/state programs administrator. As a teacher, I specialized in middle school language arts and mathematics. Since retiring from the K-12 system, I have been teaching curriculum and education courses at the bachelors' and masters' degree levels as well as supervising student teachers. I am also a successful grant writer, specializing in competitive state and federal grant projects. As a private contractor, I also work to help teachers who need assistance to improve their skills.
