When studying folk and fairy tales with my students, I like to have them create their own version of a popular story. We read books like "The Stinky Cheeseman" and "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs" to help them get their creative juices flowing. My students use this form to map out their "twisted" tale during the prewriting process. The simplified form allows students to get their thoughts on paper and get to the meat of the real writing.

I have been teaching for 17 years at the same school in Mandeville, Louisiana. I taught 1st grade for six years and have taught 2nd grade for eleven years. I was the director of our summer camp for three years and have worked both before and after school programs. I also worked as the web manager and technology point person for our school.
