Celebrate fall with this haiku poetry assignment. This form teaches students how to write a haiku poem as well as provides them with a form on which to write it. This would be a great addition to your students' writing portfolios. Collect all of the seasons. They are also provided in a packet entitled "Poems for all Seasons". These could also be displayed on bulletin boards or in hallways.(Also, see my poetry bookmarks as well as my holiday portfolio packet.)

I have taught for 36 years at the 3rd, 5th, and 6th grade levels. Fifth grade is my first love. I teach all major subject areas. In addition to my regular classroom duties, I have taught in a Basic Skills summer school program for many years as well as taught workshops to co-workers in whole language and technology. My other duties at school include being "Teacher in Charge" and Student Council advisor.
