This is essentially a FICTION CONFERRING MENU. 24 teaching points, based off of the comprehension skills, for your reading conferences. You can carry this single sheet around with you when you confer with your students. Based on the research you do, you can pick a skill they need help with and then find an appropriately worded teaching point in an instant!
These teaching points are phrased in "balanced literacy" language. There are four teaching points listed for each of the following comprehension areas:
monitoring for sense/meaning
predicting
envisioning
inferring
determining importance
synthesizing/accumulating the text
Can be used during independent reading conferences, partnership conferences, or book club/literature circle meetings.
