This fully animated 23 slide powerpoint, created by Beverly Brown, focuses on the seven types of figurative language. It compares figurative and literal language with a nine sentence exercise to differentiate between the two. Using the "SHAMPOO" acronym, it explains simile, hyperbole, alliteration, metaphor, personification, oxymoron, and onomatopoeia. Also, this fully animated, picture filled powerpoint includes a 7 sentence exercise for practice (with key), and as an example, the poem, "The Road Not Taken". It concludes with a practice test (with key) as well as a final test (with key). I guarantee you will not be disappointed with this presentation.

I love everything I have purchased from Beverly. I find it more useful than anything else I've bought, and--believe my checking account--I buy lots. Please keep up the great work, Beverly. If I had the inclination, I'd go rate everything I've bought from you an A+, but suffice it to say that I think you deserve your top rating on every item. I added "assonance" to your slide show because it was on a figurative language rap song we used from Educational Rap, so your "shampoo" became "a shampoo." The classes had a competition rapping out the song with your summary slide as the opening segment. May be the only thing they remember about 7th grade...A SHAMPOO. You rock!

This is a great PowerPoint, however I was shocked to see the term "Holy Crap!" used. Unfortunately, I didn't catch this term when I previewed the presentation. Talk about uncomfortable when that came up with my 4th, 5th & 6th graders. Yikes!

This powerpoint is thorough, providing LOTS of great examples, practice slides, a practice test, and then a "real" test you can give. This has saved me literally hours--it is so well worth the $3 for the time it has saved me. I highly recommend it.
