Finished First, created by Annie Graham, is an 18- page book that is teacher friendly, center-ready, and child centered. It has monthly, thematic projects focused on creative writing and higher-level thinking skills. Included in this book are ways teachers can use the projects in their classroom. Black-line masters are ready to be copied and placed right into a student's folder or a creative thinking center. Finished First provides students an opportunity to extend their thinking and to complete unique projects centered on the current time of year. Teachers may also find this book helpful as a source of mini-lessons for the times throughout the day when there is not enough time to start something new, but too much time to allow free choice to the students. I taught for 8 years in our rural public education system. My first two years were spent teaching Reading Recovery and Title One reading. My final 6 years were spent in a wonderful first grade classroom. I recently resigned to homeschool my son and to be at home with our children.
