This is a great first day of school craft. Print it out on construction paper, have the kids color it, or use it as a template with construction paper. I used ribbon for my leaf, but the leaf pattern is included. There are ruled and handwriting lines included.
Thank you for sharing such a cute idea for FREE! I am planning on using this for our first day back to get the kids writing and talking about how their day went. Thank you!

I love this idea. I am having a difficult time downloading the craftivity. The response when I try downloading is "invalid file". Do you suppose this is because TpT is having some difficulties? I think this is such a cute idea. I too teach kindergarten and a partially lined and partially open page would be wonderful. Do you think the file will be available tomorrow? THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for this craftivity! I have 2 questions - 1) any way you can make the "core" section have one line on the bottom (or top) and the rest blank so the kids can draw a picture? I teach kindergarten and most of my kids can't write in the beginning of the year but it would but cute for them to be able to draw a picture... 2) Is there any way you can put 2 or 3 of the "apples" on one page and a bunch of leaves on a different page and then stems on a different page. I'm thinking I could possibly print these pieces onto colored card stock but don't want to be printing red leaves and green stems... just a thought! Even if you can't help with any of this I still LOVE your idea and will be doing it with my Kinders on the second day of school!
Thank you so much, but I don't customize the free products. They are just things I use in my classroom and if someone else can use them it makes me happy. I get soooo many requests to change things and I just can't do it on the free products due to time restraints. I am so so sorry!

Thank you for your generosity in sharing your first day of school writing freebie.
I usually serve first day "Jitter Juice" (Hawaiian Punch and 7up) and cookies outside on the playground at the end of the first day, and this year I'd like to come in and do this fun activity while cooling off (deep south heat!!) before heading home. :)
