A content word wall is essential to every classroom because it supports vocabulary growth, gives students visual clues to make connections with key concepts, provides reference support, and promotes academic achievement in the content areas.
This packet contains over 200 vocabulary cards to help you create the ultimate content word wall in your classroom! Each card contains a visual and definition/example of the vocabulary word. They are aligned to the Reading, Language Arts, Writing, and Math Common Core Standards, but I also included additional vocabulary cards that you might teach your first graders {contractions, compound words, money, even & odd, etc}.
Thank you so much for visiting my store! Please let me know if you have any questions.
I get the pictures on the word wall cards but not the words on this file. I want to know if you can send me another file so I can print the words with the picture support. They are beautiful!

I used this last year with great success and look forward to many more years of use! Great resource...thank you :-)
I have always been a believer that if children can learn the names of dinosaurs they can learn the categories and intricate names of reading and math. Thank you for this wonderful set.

I bought these for my Kindergarten classroom; therefore, when I found out I would be teaching 1st grade I had to purchase again.

This is download was a lifesaver! The vocabulary is perfectly aligned to Common Core. I used it on every subject board all year long! Thanks so much!
I love these! What a great set of cards to direct my instruction and they are so cute too.

Thank you so much for putting these together. I was happy to read that you are also working on the science and social studies. Thanks for sharing this and being so talented.
After downloading, I see that the pages have no words but just black faded lines on them. The pictures are perfect but I was assuming each page would have words on them.
Ask Anna Brantley a question. They will receive an automated email and will return to answer you as soon as possible.
Please Login to ask your question.
Do you have a list of words that are included. I am trying to choose the best product for my common core words, and want to make sure my choice is thorough! If you cannot tell me what words, are you able to tell me how many math vocabulary cards there are?
Warm regards, Emily

I love your stuff! I have bought many things from you...personally and through my district. I am looping next year and was wondering if you could make an add on packet to your first grade common core word wall for second grade material. I already have the first grade set and I'd like to add in second grade material. Thanks!!
Thanks so much for your interest in the 2nd grade word wall! My "to create" list is crazy right now, but I will do my best to get to it this summer:) Thanks again!

Is it possible to see a list of the ELA words that are included before purchasing?
Yes, the header cards are included in the download. There are 5 different styles. However, the standards are not included, just vocabulary words that were taken from the standards. Does this make sense? Please check out the preview to get an idea of what the cards look like!

I'm excited to see you are planning on making a second grade edition. Since I'm sure there will be some overlap between the first and second grade editions, could you also make available an add-on edition? I've already purchased the first grade edition (I love it!) and I would like to be able to print out only the words that would be new to second grade without having to sort through them.
Just a thought. I'm picky, I know.
Also, will you be making a kinder edition?
Thank you! These cards really are an amazing help for me!
I have plans to create a 2nd and 3rd grade word wall this summer. However, they will have to be separate purchases! I'm so so sorry!! Once they are posted, e-mail me and we can work something out!
Thanks so much and happy new year!!

Love the cards. But if I pay for what you have now, will the science and social studies be an additional charge? Just thought I'd ask.
There will not be any additional charge, but I'm still waiting on Common Core to post the science and social studies standards! They are taking their sweet time, aren't they??!!

Wording in black does not come out. It looks like a big smudge. I can't ready anything that it says. =( Sad, I was looking forward to using this with my students. Not happy.
Hey there! Thanks so much for your purchase! So sorry you are having problems opening the files. Try the troubleshooting tips below and let me know if you can't still opening the file.
1. Make sure you are using an up to date version of Acrobat Reader.
You can check the version by clicking Help then About from within
reader. If you have a version earlier than 5.0 or 6.0, you should
update your reader.
2. If you have a Mac, you may be opening it with a Mac program
called "Preview" and not even know it. Preview has documented problems
opening modern Adobe files. If you have a Mac, try opening Adobe
Reader first (rather than just clicking on the file), then open the
file within Adobe Reader. You may also choose to set the default
reader to Adobe Reader by following the instructions here.
To change the default reader on a Mac to Adobe:
----------------------------------------------
Click on the icon of a PDF file type then choose File --> Get Info
You will see a dialog box labeled something like this "sample.pdf" Info
Near the bottom, you will see a section titled "Open With:"
That indicates what application on you Mac is the default.
Click on the pop-up to bring up the list of possible applications
and select Adobe Reader (whatever version is installed), then click
"Change All" to make it the default application for all .pdf files.
The OS will then ask you if you are sure, click "Continue."
Now the Mac will use Reader instead of Preview.
Please e-mail me at crazyforfirstgrade@hotmail.com or contact TpT customer service through the contact us link if you still have problems with the document!! I really appreciate your purchase and want to make sure you can get the problem fixed!!
Thanks,

Hi Anna! I just purchased and I'm in the process of printing your common core vocabulary word cards. I noticed that the short vowel vocabulary card has two examples of short u and no example of short i (on page 22). I was wondering if you could possibly fix that and then send me the updated page. Thanks so much!
UPDATE - I sent you an email at your hotmail address including my email. Thanks again!
Sure! I will revise it tonight!!! :) Update- I'm not able to get it to load tonight and don't have your e-mail address. I will make sure to get it revised tomorrow or e-mail you that page. Thank you so much!

Anna - I was unable to print and use your cards for the word wall.....so many were blank or had these square and rectangular black faded smudges......looks like there was some kind of an error with certain key strokes?....unless it has something to do with the fact that I have an IMAC? Not sure, but I don't think I can use them. How can I obtain a credit?

Thanks for your kind words!! Yes, I am making one and will be done by the end of this month. Common Core hasn't released the science and s.studies standards, but I will post them as soon as they do {within a week}!! :)

Love, Love, this purchase! I have designed 4 content walls - Reading, Language Arts, Math, and Writing. I teach EC-Separate Setting K-4, I was wondering if you could make headers instead of it saying only Reading, Math etc. but to include the words Common Core with no grade on it. Example: Common Core Math, etc. I love the headers as is but would like to ensure administrators and parents that these are Common Core Standards.
I just started back to school & won't be able to make custom signs due to a lack of extra time....know the feeling??? I always forget how busy this time of year is! Hope you can understand:) Thanks so much for your purchase!!

Hi! I love this item!! Have you been able to add the Science and Social Studies words yet? Thanks!
Still waiting on Common Core to release the standards!!! My goodness they are slow...do you have them yet or is your state using their own standards? Thanks for contacting me!!!
Oops- just noticed that it's for writing and phonics too. I will be teaching a section of each of those as well, so I'd also like to include any writing or phonic related word wall cards in my purchase! Thank you!
I will only be teaching 1st grade math next year. I noticed Lisa Gulotta's comment (waaaay) :) below about purchasing just the math words...would it be possible for me to just get the math word wall words at a lower rate than the whole packet?
Hi
Your stuff is terrific. I am planning a dog/puppy themed room next year...dog house for reading, dog bowls for supplies....would love to hear any of your creative ideas.
Thanks a bunch!

Your work is AMAZING!! Just wondering are these the new California's Common Core Content Standards? Are the standards number located some where in the index card? Example:First Grade R.L.1: Ask and answer question about key details in a text.
Thank you! You are too sweet! The vocabulary is based on the Common Core standards found on this website -http://www.corestandards.org/. The standard numbers are not located on the vocab. cards. Sorry!! You can see a few thumbnail images of what they look like on the right side of the screen. Please let me know if you have anymore questions!! Thanks again:) Anna

Ms. Brantley,
Do you have a picture of a word wall using the labels. I would love to see how others are using these.
I am moving from K to 2nd so I'm new to following you! Do you think your word wall vocab for 1st grade would apply to 2nd graders too? And are you making an essential questions pack for 2nd grade? I love what I've seen on your store, just don't know if it applies to me since I'm completely new to 2nd grade! Thanks!
Hey there! Thanks for your interest in my vocab word wall. If you can give me a few weeks, I will create a 2nd grade Common Core & More Word Wall for you!! I wouldn't want you to get the 1st grade version because I used 1st grade CC standards for the majority of it!! Stay tuned for a set that will be perfect for you 2nd graders:) XOXO

Hey Anna! I love your stuff! Ive purchased so much of it over this past year. I was just wondering if you will use these coomon core word wall words all on one word wall or math and literacy separated? In addition, do you use a sight word word wall as well? I appreciate your time. Your work is wonderful and I look up to you!
Wow! You are so sweet! Thank you for your kind words!! I have two word walls in my room- a content word wall and a word wall for common first grade words/ spelling words/ sight words. The content word wall is labeled by subject areas while the other one is by words that start with the letters in the alphabet. I hope this info helps you!
